Colegio Japonés Paraguayo
Location: Asunción, Paraguay
Area: 1650 m²
Year: 2020
Role: Architect
The new addition to the Colegio Japones Paraguayo in Asuncion, Paraguay, is a state-of-the-art facility that includes areas for culinary arts, robotics, electronics, audio and video, and wood and metal shops.
The new addition is part of the school’s initiative to provide students with a well-rounded education that prepares them for the 21st-century workforce. The facility is designed to be a creative and collaborative space where students can learn and explore their interests by building and interacting with their projects and working with their hands.
During the project’s design phase, the building’s exterior skin was simulated on an annual solar exposure model, defining areas of the building that needed shading devices and others that did not. A wind tunnel study helped design operable apertures in spaces to provide cross-ventilation and reduce the use of air conditioners
